Information about silver jewellery marks
If you're interested in vintage or second hand jewellery, questions about silver marks will soon come up. There are so many different marks, representing places or dates of origin, purity levels, or the names of manufacturers or suppliers, that it can sometimes even be difficult trying to work out what kind of mark you're looking at.
However, there are several websites available with information covering silver hallmarks, date marks, place marks and makers' or sponsors' marks.
I have also started putting together a small (as yet) list of silver jewellery marks with their meanings. It's simply arranged according to the letters of the alphabet, so you don't need to know what kind of mark it is, only the its letter.
