Vintage 1980s Majorica pearl gold plated sterling silver brooch.

A good quality gold plated silver brooch from 1982 with a Majorica pearl inside a flower design, further decorated with enamel and cubic zirconia detail.

Majorica pearls are man-made on the island of Majorca.  Their production involves applying several layers of lacquer, containing fish scales or mother of pearl, around a solid glass ball.  Although not created naturally, they are vastly superior to ordinary imitation pearls and much more similar to real pearl in their content.

The company 'Majorica SA' has been making them since 1890.

This brooch is In excellent condition (never worn) and comes with its original Majorica tag.
